Blekinge Big Band & Denis DiBlasio with the Culture School's Salsa band
Blekinge Big Band was restarted in connection with the Baltic Sea Festival in 2008 and thus celebrates 15 years. The band's 17 members have been brought from all over the county and all have a connection to Blekinge.
Under the leadership of saxophonist Berndt Sjögren, the band, with fine support from Musik i Blekinge, has been visited by many well-deserved artists, both Swedish and international over the years. This time, the band is guested by Denis DiBlasio.
Denis is an internationally active baritone saxophonist, flutist, educator, composer and arranger. During his long career he has played with the biggest stars in the jazz world and in the Maynard Ferguson Big Band he also served as Musical Director for several years.
You will hear works from Denis extensive production mixed with the best from the band's music sheet. Denis is, in addition to a formidable musician, an outstanding stage personality who offers himself in relaxed conversations, spreads good vibes and also offers the occasional treasure song.
