Exhibition - Meanwhile in Ukraine
The exhibition "Meanwhile in Ukraine", which depicts the ongoing war in Ukraine, is now on display outside the Naval Museum. The exhibition is on a visit from the Swedish Defense History Museum and will be shown outdoors, until June 1, 2023.
The anniversary of the beginning of the war is commemorated on February 24, when the Naval Museum will be present at the exhibition to commemorate the anniversary of the day Russia's invasion of Ukraine began.
On March 8, 2022, museum photographer Olena Shovkoplias documented the ongoing war in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. The pictures depict how the residents prepared for the Russian attacks, how they organized themselves and the devastation after the attacks. The photographs are part of the exhibition "Meanwhile in Ukraine" which, after being shown at the Army Museum and the Air Force Museum, has now come to Karlskrona and the Marine Museum.
"Meanwhile in Ukraine" is the first exhibition in a series based on materials from the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, in Kyiv. The photographs are grouped under six different themes and depict the conflict from Ukraine's perspective, while focusing on the universal human suffering that each war brings.
