Thomas Backman
Thomas Backman has been known for many years from the groups Paavo and Klabbes Bank or as a co-musician to Sarah and Georg Riedel, Maia Hirasawa, and others.
In 2018, the solo debut "Did You Have A Good Day, David?" was released.
The mix of different styles and personal arrangements took Thomas and his band to outstanding scenes within the world of jazz like Pizza Express in London, Rochester Jazz Festival, and Nublu in the USA to name a few. The follow-up "When Light Is Put Away from 2021 offered influences from bebop, hip-hop, orchestral pop, shoegaze rock and free jazz.
The album was awarded the Manifest prize for the jazz album of the year 2021 and came second in the critics' vote for OrkesterJournalens prestigious Golden Disc.
