Here we've gathered tips from our talented summer staff, who share ideas on what you can do if you're visiting Karlskrona for 2 days during the summer.

  • If you have two days or more in Karlskrona, you’ll have plenty of time to explore both the city’s World Heritage Site and the stunning archipelago. My best tip is to alternate between historical sights, nature experiences, swimming, and good food—that way, you’ll get to experience the best of Karlskrona.

     

  • Spend a full day on Dragsö—a favorite destination for both families and friends. Play adventure mini-golf or disc golf, enjoy a delicious lunch at the restaurant, and end the day with a dip at the beautiful beach. It’s easy to spend several hours here without even noticing how quickly time flies.

  • If you want to get up close and personal with the archipelago, we recommend renting a kayak or SUP. Paddle between islands and islets, find your own swimming spot, and stop for a coffee break or lunch with the sea as your closest neighbor. For those who want to explore the archipelago with a guide, guided tours are also available.

     

  • One of the best ways to get to know Karlskrona is on foot. Follow the purple route on the city map and discover the city’s most iconic sites at your own pace. If you’d like to take even more stories home with you, we recommend one of our guided tours, such as the city walk through the World Heritage Site, the unique tour of Kungsholm Fort, or one of the themed walks offered by GO Nordic and Kulturkompaniet.

  • Be sure to visit some of Karlskrona’s popular museums as well. The Naval Museum and the Blekinge Museum offer a fascinating glimpse into the city’s history and World Heritage Site, while the Car and Porcelain Museum and the Museum of Mobile Coastal Artillery on Aspö provide unique experiences for visitors of all ages.

     

  • If you love nature, there are plenty of destinations to choose from. Skärva, Knösö, Tromtö, Hallarumsviken, Ekebacken, and Uttorp all offer different nature experiences—from lush beech forests and historic manor house settings to open coastal heaths, ocean views, and tranquil swimming coves. Pack a picnic basket, grab your hiking boots or bike, and enjoy a day in nature.

  • Don’t forget to explore Karlskrona from the sea. The archipelago boats will take you to some of Blekinge’s most beautiful spots. Join the World Heritage Tour to see the historic forts from the water, hop off along the Hop-on Hop-off route, or take a day trip to Nättraby or Stenshamn to experience peaceful coastal communities and the authentic archipelago.

     

  • If you’re looking for a peaceful day in nature, Lake Lindvallska is a real gem. Pack a lunch, settle down by the water, and enjoy the tranquility. Here you can go for a walk, fish (with a valid fishing license), or simply relax in a scenic setting.

  • If you’re traveling with children, there are plenty of activities suitable for the whole family. Challenge each other at Boda Borg, go bowling or play laser tag at CyberZone, solve tricky escape rooms, go go-karting, visit Barnens Gård, or let the kids run wild at Funplays and Dragsö. There’s something here for all ages—no matter the weather.

     

  • An experience you’ll never forget is a boat trip to Utklippan. Join Saltstänk on a trip to Sweden’s southeasternmost island and experience the dramatic archipelago, the vastness of the sea, and the curious seals that often rest on the cliffs. It’s one of Karlskrona’s most unique nature experiences.

  • Be sure to take the time to discover some of the city’s greenest gems. Brändaholm, Wämöparken, and Hoglands Park are perfect spots for a leisurely stroll, a picnic, or a moment of relaxation between the day’s adventures.

     

  • Aspö is a destination we love to return to. Take the ferry across and explore the island by bike or on foot. Visit Drottningskär Castle, enjoy the ocean views, go for a swim, have a coffee break, and experience the authentic archipelago atmosphere that has made Aspö a favorite among both visitors and locals.

  • If you have the chance, we also recommend a day trip to Kristianopel. This charming little Renaissance town features cobblestone streets, historic city walls, rose gardens, cozy cafés, and swimming spots. Don’t miss the seal colony at Abramsäng, where harbor seals often rest on the skerries—a fantastic nature experience.

     

  • For those who want to explore Blekinge’s more unspoiled archipelago, Ytterön and Hästholmen are well worth a visit. Take the short cable ferry across and explore the islands by bike with a well-stocked picnic basket. Here you’ll find historic shipyards, military ruins, and one of Blekinge’s largest nature reserves. Since there are no cafés or shops, bringing your own picnic makes the outing extra special.
  • Feel free to round out your visit with a trip to the archipelago islands of Långören or Stenshamn and Utlängan, where you can follow the hiking trail between the two islands, enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea, and experience a vibrant coastal landscape where nature takes center stage. Don’t forget to stop by Pelles Sjöbod in the harbor at Stenshamn for a well-deserved coffee break before taking the boat back.
