Dance in a Civil Defense Shelter – An Art Experience by Elin Wikström

Dance in a Civil Defense Shelter – An Art Experience by Elin Wikström

In the fall of 2026, artist Elin Wikström will carry out a public art project in Karlskrona. The project explores the significance of music in people’s lives—throughout history and in the present day. How can music create a sense of community, offer comfort, evoke memories, or express hope? What role does music play in times of preparedness, uncertainty, and security? Sunday, October 25, 1:00–2:30 p.m.

This event marks the conclusion of the interactive sound installations running from September 28 to October 11, during which stories and music inspired by light and darkness were collected. Come experience the stories and song collection that the project’s participants helped create. Through the art project *Blue Triangles on Orange Squares: Shared and Hidden Spaces in Times of Peace and War*, the artist aims to spark reflection on civil preparedness, cultural heritage, and societal resilience.

The program also includes sing-alongs and performances by local musicians and dancers.
