Must do in Karlskrona during 2h

What shouldn't we miss when visiting Karlskrona for 2 hours?
Here we've gathered tips from our talented summer staff, who share ideas on what you can do if you visit Karlskrona for 2 hours on a summer day.

  • Do you have a couple of hours in Karlskrona? If so, we recommend following the purple route on the city map. It’s one of the best ways to explore this World Heritage city at your own pace. Along the way, you’ll pass 14 of Karlskrona’s most iconic sites—from grand churches and the famous Rosenbom to historic buildings, museums, and beautiful urban settings.

  • One of our absolute favorite ways to experience Karlskrona is from the water. Hop aboard the World Heritage Tour on the M/F Ljungskär and let the archipelago show itself at its very best. During the tour, you’ll pass mighty forts and castles that once protected Sweden’s most important naval city—an experience where history and nature come together.
  • If you want to understand why Karlskrona looks the way it does today, a visit to the Naval Museum is a must. Here, you can trace the development of the Swedish Navy from the 16th century to the present day through exciting exhibits, authentic artifacts, and the popular Submarine Hall, where you can get a real sense of life beneath the surface.

  • Want to see a lot in a short time? Then the City Train is the perfect option. Sit back and let the train take you through the city’s charming neighborhoods, along the waterfront, and all the way out to Dragsö. It’s a comfortable and enjoyable ride that’s perfect for all ages.
  • For an activity that’s perfect for the whole family, we recommend the Adventure Mini-Golf course at Dragsö Camping. Here, you’ll play your way through a miniature version of Karlskrona’s World Heritage Site, passing landmarks such as Rosenbom, Kungsholm Fort, and the statue of King Carl XI. Afterward, it’s hard to resist an ice cream or a dip at the beautiful beach right next door.

  • If you want to experience a different side of Karlskrona, take a walk through Trollskogen (Troll Forest) on Dragsö. The dense forest, with its dark yew trees, creates an almost fairy-tale-like atmosphere, and along the trail, about fifty trolls are hiding, waiting to be discovered. It’s a charming outing where nature, imagination, and ocean views go hand in hand.
  • For those who want to delve a little deeper into the city’s history, we recommend the guided walking tour “Karlskrona in 90 Minutes.” Accompanied by a guide, you’ll hear the stories behind the stately buildings, the hidden alleys, and the people who have shaped Karlskrona over the centuries. It’s a completely different experience than just walking around on your own.

  • Are you curious about the history of the Cold War? Then don’t miss the unique tour “The Red Threat.” This guided tour takes you 30 meters down into the mountain to a former nuclear-proof facility, built to protect thousands of people. It’s a fascinating and unique experience that offers a whole new perspective on Karlskrona’s modern history.
