Do you have a couple of hours in Karlskrona? If so, we recommend following the purple route on the city map. It’s one of the best ways to explore this World Heritage city at your own pace. Along the way, you’ll pass 14 of Karlskrona’s most iconic sites—from grand churches and the famous Rosenbom to historic buildings, museums, and beautiful urban settings.
If you want to understand why Karlskrona looks the way it does today, a visit to the Naval Museum is a must. Here, you can trace the development of the Swedish Navy from the 16th century to the present day through exciting exhibits, authentic artifacts, and the popular Submarine Hall, where you can get a real sense of life beneath the surface.
For an activity that’s perfect for the whole family, we recommend the Adventure Mini-Golf course at Dragsö Camping. Here, you’ll play your way through a miniature version of Karlskrona’s World Heritage Site, passing landmarks such as Rosenbom, Kungsholm Fort, and the statue of King Carl XI. Afterward, it’s hard to resist an ice cream or a dip at the beautiful beach right next door.
For those who want to delve a little deeper into the city’s history, we recommend the guided walking tour “Karlskrona in 90 Minutes.” Accompanied by a guide, you’ll hear the stories behind the stately buildings, the hidden alleys, and the people who have shaped Karlskrona over the centuries. It’s a completely different experience than just walking around on your own.
