The Navy Day at the Naval Museum
Come celebrate The Navy Day in Karlskrona on Saturday, September 5! Discover history, stories, and activities for the whole family. Together with our partner organizations, we’re offering a packed program that gives you the chance to experience maritime history up close.
Today’s Program
10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. – Create Your Own Coat of Arms
Let your imagination run wild at the Sailor’s Workshop and create your very own coat of arms. An activity for both children and adults.
11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. – Visit the motorboat Carl Stuart
Step aboard the beautiful motorboat Carl Stuart, which has a unique history tied to the Swedish Navy. The boat’s owner, Dan Thorell, will be offering drop-in tours throughout the day.
11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. – Discover more with our partner organizations
• Visit the missile boat HMS Västervik and hear former crew members talk about life and service on board.
• Try your hand at rope-making with the Shipyard History Association and help make Stumholmen’s longest rope.
• Meet the Hajen Submarine Club in the Submarine Hall and learn more about what it’s like to live and work underwater.
• Discover the work being done on the major renovation of the shipboy training vessel Jarramas.
11:30 a.m. – Themed Tour: What Is Worth Defending?
What does it mean to defend a democracy? And who should actually have a say in the matter?
Join us for a themed tour where we explore questions of power, responsibility, the right to vote, freedom, and security through the history of the navy—from life aboard warships and military service to world wars and today’s democratic dilemmas.
5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – Choral concert in the Galjonshallen
End the day with *Drömlandskap* (Dreamscape), an atmospheric concert featuring the Råby Chamber Singers in the beautiful Galjonshallen. The concert costs 195 SEK and must be booked in advance. A separate ticket is required.
Navy Day 2026 is organized in collaboration with the Swedish Armed Forces.
