Pigmented Emotions – Exhibition

Pigmented Emotions – Exhibition

Welcome to the opening reception with artist Maria Serrestam in the Small Art Hall at Litorina Folk High School.

Artist Maria Serrestam presents her watercolor paintings and describes her work as follows:
“Sometimes life moves so fast that it takes a while to realize you’re not keeping up at all. That you’ve actually started to stumble, being dragged along until you finally come to a stop. Somewhere there, in the middle of life, painting became a breathing space for me—my pause. A place where nothing else is allowed to exist. There is only water and pigment flowing in harmony across different textures. It is both movement and stillness at once. For me, it is the medium rather than the subject that matters. It is the freedom and effortlessness of the moment that means something. The result doesn’t have to be perfect—it can be a little crooked and uneven, just like life itself. It is the feeling that matters.”
