The Royal Swedish Navy Band - Echoes of England
A concert program created for large acoustics has been on the agenda for the Navy Band in January in recent years – and will be again in 2026. January 23, at 12:00 p.m. in Fredrikskyrkan.
This year, we have chosen to move entirely to England, as all the music has been composed by English composers. We will follow the rich expressive spectrum of the English musical tradition – from elegant court dances to vividly poetic landscapes. Each piece reflects its era, its aesthetics and the musical diversity that characterises English composition.
As conductor, music director Alexander Hanson leads the band and ensures that every note and nuance comes into its own in the acoustically impressive environment of the church.
From the program:
Peter Graham – Intrada by a theme from Thomas Tallis
Gustav Holst – Dances from The Morning of the Year
Benjamin Britten – The Courtly Dances from Gloriana
John Ireland – A Downland suite
Free admission.
