The Swedish Folk Music Day
Friends of folk music (Visans Vänner) celebrate Folk Music Day in traditional style with a concert on March 15 at 4 p.m. in the foyer of the Concert Hall Theater. There will be a wonderful mix of different types of folk music and a pleasant atmosphere. This year, we are joined by Kim Persson, singer-songwriter, recorder player, pipe player, etc., who will present “The History of Swedish Folk Music.”
Visans dag (Song Day) is celebrated in memory of Evert Taube's birthday, and this year Kim Persson will take us on a journey through the history of Swedish song – from the 18th century to the present day. Starting in Bellman's noisy and raucous Gustavian Stockholm. To the descriptions of the many hardships of the poor people by the Klarapoets Dan Andersson and Nils Ferlin. Out onto the seven seas and home to Roslagen with Evert Taube. On to the 1960s song wave with Olle Adolphson and Cornelis Vreeswijk, who colorfully describe the people and discourses of the welfare state.
An evening entirely dedicated to the art of the musical narrative! Long live the song!
Kim Persson is a folk singer, recorder player, pipe player, mandola player, storyteller, entertainer, bandleader, and composer, and his first album is due out this spring. He is a member of the Professional Troubadours' Association and holds a master's degree from the Royal College of Music. He is known from the folk song group Grabbarna från Eken. In addition, several of Visans Vänner's own groups and artists will perform.
Admission is SEK 180, members SEK 150, youth SEK 80.
Visans Vänner in Karlskrona is an association for people who play or enjoy listening to folk songs and ballads. Visans Vänner has about 200 members and organizes concerts and member meetings throughout the year. Folk songs are not high culture, but culture at its finest!
