Tuesday Lecture – Lotta Niemi, from sustainable innovation to the opera’s costume workshop

Fashion designer Lotta Niemi is back in Blekinge. In this week’s lecture, the audience will be invited to follow her creative journey.

Previously, she has created gala outfits, winter coats, and unique everyday garments from leftover fabric pieces. She has produced collections for theatre costumes, and her latest project took her to the costume workshop of the Göteborgsoperan. There, she led a project introducing a new and sustainable working method for the opera world using digital 3D technology. This has created new opportunities for collaboration between the opera and costume designers worldwide, as well as new possibilities for internal costume production.

Fashion creator and textile designer Lotta Niemi is now back in the region and once again active in Karlshamn. With training in fashion design, pattern construction, and CLO 3D, she creates unique remake garments under her own brand, RE:LN.

Now, Lotta is coming to Blekinge museum to talk about her creative work, her remake collections, and the challenges she has faced recently at the Gothenburg Opera, as well as how she looks toward the future.
