If you have half a day in Karlskrona, we recommend starting with a guided walking tour of the city. In just 90 minutes, you’ll be taken through the World Heritage Site and hear the stories behind the city’s grand buildings, hidden alleys, and fascinating history. If you’d like to explore the city at your own pace, the self-guided walking tour along the Purple Route is an equally enjoyable option.
Then take the boat to Brändaholm, one of Karlskrona’s most idyllic spots. The colorful summer cottages, blooming gardens, and peaceful archipelago setting make the area a true summer favorite. On the way there or back, it’s the perfect opportunity to stop by Blomlöfs Fisk & Skaldjur on Saltö and enjoy a truly delicious lunch with the sea right next door.
Another one of our top tips is to explore Karlskrona from the saddle of a bike. Rent a bike and set out on the popular “Karlskrona Runt” trail, an approximately 35-kilometer ride that takes you through the city, along the coast, and through scenic countryside. Along the way, you’ll pass ocean views, green spaces, cultural sites, and several perfect spots for a coffee break or picnic. Don’t miss Bryggareberget either—one of Karlskrona’s most beautiful vantage points, offering a panoramic view of the city center, the archipelago, and the inlet.
