Advent Concert - The Swedish Royal Navy Band

Since 2011, the Advent concerts presented by the Navy Band, the Karlskrona-Aspö Parish, and the choirs of the Karlskrona Admiralty Parish have become a staple of the city’s cultural life. It is an annual event where the city’s orchestra and choirs come together in a shared celebration of light and tranquility.
November 29, at 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Admiralty Church.

This year’s concerts will take place at the Admiralty Church, where the Navy Band and the participating choirs will be led by conductor Florian Benfer. Among other roles, Benfer serves as artistic director of both the Gustaf Sjökvist Chamber Choir and the Philharmonischer Chor Berlin. It was choral legend Gustaf Sjökvist who conducted the very first Advent concert in Karlskrona in 2011, creating a clear historical link between the tradition’s beginnings and its contemporary interpretation.

Under Florian’s direction, we will experience a program where older and newer music come together. Together, they create an atmospheric Advent concert with music that invites reflection and anticipation.
