Grevagården Concert

Grevagården Concert

Thursday, August 21 at 6:00 PM – Grevagården, Karlskrona

Mats Janhagen – Conductor

The autumn season opens, as tradition dictates, with an atmospheric outdoor concert at Grevagården – one of Karlskrona’s most beloved performance venues. Since the 1980s, Grevagården has been the setting for the Navy Band’s outdoor concerts in Karlskrona.

This year, the concert is conducted by Mats Janhagen, a well-known figure in Swedish military music. From 1989 to 2017, Mats served as Music Director and Artistic Leader of the Swedish Army Band. Today, he is Director Musices at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.

This late summer evening will feature a varied program ranging from classic marches and Swedish summer gems to beautiful hymns and the groovy sounds of birthday celebrant Stevie Wonder.

Program highlights:
Curt Larsson – A Hälsingland Legend
Percy Grainger – Irish Tune from County Derry
Johan Halvorsen – Entry March of the Boyars
Stevie Wonder – Stevie Wonder Medley

In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved to the Admiralty Church (Amiralitetskyrkan).
