Visit the Naval Museum Library

Welcome to visit the Marine Museum's library! Open every Tuesday at 13-16, or by appointment.

In the Naval Museum's library you will find lots of unique books on everything from naval warfare and military history to technology and shipbuilding.

The shelves also contain literature on galleons, how sailors lived on board, rolls of naval officers, nautical dictionaries and other books related to naval history.

The oldest book in the library is De Re Navali Libellus, written by the French author and ambassador Lazare De Baïf (1496-1547) and printed in Lyon in 1540. Part of the library of ship designer and admiral Fredrik Henrik af Chapman (1721-1808) is also part of the collections.

The library contains more than 30 000 books on naval and maritime history.
