Augerums kyrka

Augerums Church

Augerum Church was consecrated in 1821 and is beautifully situated near Lyckebyån, north of town. It looks like a cathedral with its high arched ceiling and heavy columns. The interior was painted in the 1970s in its present grey-blue/light-blue colours. Look especially for the stone-cairn graves where Fredrik Henrik af Chapman and Anders af Håkansson are buried. Their stones are decorated with carvings of their families' coats of arms; af Chapman was a shipbuilder and af Håkansson was a county governor and member of Parliament.
