A holiday week for families in Karlskrona
Welcome to the World Heritage City of Karlskrona!
Here we have gathered tips and inspiration for you who travel with children. Do you stay longer than a week or maybe just a few days? Regardless, we hope you have a nice and fun experience!
Saturday
Arrive at the holiday gem Dragsö Camping* on Saturday afternoon and stay in one of their cozy cottages. Have a peaceful afternoon with a swim from Dragsö's own beach and play a round of miniature golf on the course with the theme: the World Heritage Site Karlskrona. End the evening at the camping's delicious restarant Havsviken, which is located directly on the beach and offers a qualitative menu in a marine environment.
Sunday
Take the Hop-on Hop-off boat from Dragsö and dock The Naval Museum* like a real sea captain - from the water. Take part of an exciting journey through history, where the magnificent Figurehead Hall and the activity room Dunder's deck, that impress both young and old. Do not miss Restaurant Skeppsgossen's delicious traditional Blekinge buffet and their prizewinning, tasty Karlskrona ice cream. Have a nice afternoon - go for a swim and play some beach volleyball on the beach just outside the museum.
Join one of Kulturkompaniet's exciting and interesting city walks before returning to the holiday village on Dragsö.
Monday
Start the day with a scenic experience in a canoe in Blekinge's wonderful waters. Great fun for all ages! After a good lunch at Dragsö's own lunch restaurant you can hop on the bikes and spend the afternoon in the city.Stroll around in cozy Karlskrona and enjoy many small charming shops and cafés. Do not miss the mall Modehuset Kronan*.
Make a stop at the imaginative playground in Hogland's Park and why not treat yourselves to some ice creams. Yummy! Around Hogland's Park you will also find several restaurants, with differnet cuisines from around the world.
Check in at Scandic Karlskrona* and enjoy the awesome sea view. Have a good dinner in Scandic's own restaurant and enjoy the amazing sunset over "Borgmästarefjärden" from the terrace.
Tuesday
Hotel breakfast! Is there a better way to start a holiday?
Stroll a few meters and start the day at Blekinge Museum*, where you will also find one of Karlskrona's most popular playgrounds, "Grevagrundet". Compose your own ice cream in the ice cream parlour Enkla's big ice cream buffet. Have lunch at one of Karlskrona's many nice restaurants along the pedestrian streets in the center of the town.
After lunch - go down to "Fisktorget" and choose one of many boat trips and spend the afternoon at sea. Dock one of the many islands and look around, go for a swim or have a picnic on the rocks before returning home. If you are lucky you'll see the sun go down on the world heritage city on your way back!
Wednesday
Take the car or the bus to Barnens Gård* for a full day at Blekinge's own theme park for children. Here you can climb and jump in the playground, swim and splash in the water and help to care for the farm animals. Challange each other in the 120m long water slide "Tjurfallet".
Enjoy a peaceful evening at the cozy Hotel Conrad in the middle of the town, while the children go to bed early.
Thursday
Take the car ferry to the island Aspö and spend the day on the beach and experience Aspö from the back of an Icelandic horse. Visit the Drottningskär Citadel and go exploring in the exciting setting.
Go back to Trossö with one of the archipelago boats, and take a nice and short walk from Fisktorget to Saltö and the Cyberzone activity center, where you challenge the kids on a round of bowling or a game of laser game. Finish the day with an evening dip on Saltö Sand, one of Karlskrona's many downtown beaches.
Friday
Bring the younger children to Funplays to play and have fun in the large indoor play land, while the rest of the family have the time of their lives at the Quest Paradise Boda Borg*.
Meet up again the whole family on Bollspelsgolfen* east of Barnens Gård, and end the day with a challenging and exciting family activity. "Bollspelsgolf" is a new game built up as a mixture of miniature golf and ballgames like handball, basketball, football and boule. Shoot, aim, win! Do not miss the last evening's sunset over Karlskrona's city marina, as you enjoy a delicious dinner at, for example, restaurant Italiano.
Tomorrow it's time to leave lovely Karlskrona.
