Blekinge Museum

Blekinge Museum

Regional Museum in Blekinge - there are exhibitions about the county's history, Blekinge coastal culture and Blekinge roots.

Welcome to meet the history of the World Heritage Site of Karlskrona. Through the stories inside Grevagården, you will get to know everything from the city's founders to historical craftsmen and people who have been important and helped to build Karlskrona. The World Heritage Exhibition is an experience for the whole family. Here you can challenge your friend to the button game in Princess Adrienne's family room. Together with the little ship rats Råkåkå and Valentin, you can follow the adventures and round-the-world voyages that once started in Karlskrona, or follow them out into the baroque garden where they go exploring with the world heritage craftsmen.

In the houses along Borgmästarekajen you can discover more about the history of Blekinge.

In “Gathered Things” we explore objects that many people associate with typical Blekinge: Blekingesöm, trebenastolen, landscape costumes, oaks and much more. What is it that has given them the status of Blekinge symbols? Be fascinated by the objects' magical ability to connect the past with the present and the future, and help us explore which symbols and stories mean the most to you!

Discover Blekinge's prehistory in “Back to the Past”. Join us on a journey that takes us back to the end of the Ice Age, when the first people came wandering from the south - through the everyday life of the hunter stone age, the advent of agriculture, the first forms of metals and the magical imagery of rock carvings. Would we recognize ourselves in Stone Age Blekinge? Why is there a dog buried in one of the exhibition stands? And what traces of the mythological worlds of the Bronze Age can we find around us today?

Blekinge Museum is located in the Wachtmeister neighborhood, one of the earliest in Karlskrona. The City Palace Graveyard with its bridge garden is part of the World Heritage Site. The garden invites you to rest and recreation - like a quiet oasis in the city's bustle. The playground “Grevagrundet” is one of Karlskrona's most fun and here you can fish among the boathouses, ride the horse Hilla or discover rock carvings in the lush greenery. The museum shop offers a wide range of local crafts and literature about Blekinge's culture and history.

More information about opening hours and current exhibitions is available on the museum's website.
