It took almost 24 years before the baroque church was inaugurated in the presence of the Swedish Crown Prince Adolf Fredrik. In 1720, the construction of Fredrikskyrkan was started at Stortorget in Karlskrona following drawings by Sweden's former chief architect, Nicodemus Tessin d.y. The church got its name from the King Fredrik I. The church is situated in the heart of Karlskrona, on the big town square.
